This is what I've been told by venues around Charlottesville, and I'm not really even a a songwriter. Okay, maybe two originals that I actually perform. But mostly my set is country blues and old-time songs and finger picking. And, not to brag but pretty good stuff. Those that show for gigs like what they hear. But, tell me what you think. Would you rather hear a solo performer, with a musical style that reflects deep roots in the americana music idiom? Or is it more important to hear more musicians performing together and playing off each other in whatever style? I'd really like to hear your comments about what you like hear when going out to small local venues, early shows, music late at night, original songs or great songs that are so old and obscure you'd never hear them without the help of some 78 rpm nut to sift out the gems and present them, maybe with a bit of history, loud, not so loud. Whatever.
